A passport is the most essential document whenever you want to depart from the country to any other countries. The reason for travelling may be anything like education, tourism, family trips, pilgrimage, medical attendance, business purposes.

As like other government services that can be done through online passport application can be done through online but you cannot do the complete process through online without visiting passport seva Kendra or regional passport office. But this online process makes it easier and reduces your time of waiting in the office.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) enabled the passport service to ensure that applicants can apply for passports online as well as offline.

There are types of passports issued by the Indian government. The ordinary passport with blue cover, the official passport with white cover is for individuals representing Indian government with official business, and the third type is the diplomatic passport with red cover for Indian diplomats and top ranking government officials.

Documents are needed for passport application to affirm your date of birth, residing address and identity. You need to produce your aadhar card, electors id and PAN card.

Register in the Passport Seva Online Portal, by clicking‘New user? Register now’ option in the middle of the page. You will be directed to a page named ‘User Registration’. 

  • In the first option select the registration application for passport office.
  • Then select the passport office city near from you.
  • The next fields are to fill your basic info you’re your name, surname, and date of birth etc
  • Click the register button.
  • A link will be sent to your e-mail id. You have to open the link for the activation of your account.
  • Once the link is activated, you can log in with your registered id and password.

 

Once the registration is done log in with your username and password, you will be directed to a page .

Click the link “Apply for the fresh passport/ re-issue of passport”.

On that page, there will be given to alternates-  you can either fill the form online else can take a print of the form and upload the filled form by scanning it.

The next page is about to enter the type of passport you need

Just click whether you are Applying for a fresh passport or re-issuance of passport, normal or tatkal application, no of pages you need in the booklet 36 pages or 60 pages.

Next page is to fill applicant personal details such as Name and Surname, Date of birth and place of birth

,State (if born in India), district and country (if born in Abroad), Gender, Marital Status, Citizenship, PAN no. and voter id, Employment status, If parents/spouse is in government service (in case of minor), Educational qualifications, Applicable for NonECR category ( ECR-Emigration Check Required), Visible distinguishing marks, Aadhar no.

  After entering these details click on the next button. You can also save the details by clicking on option “Save my details” option.

Next pages is to fill “Family Details” of the applicant such as, Father’s name, Mother’s name, Guardian name and surname (if applicable)

present address Is present address is out of India? You can choose yes or no, Residing period, House no. and street name, Village/town/city, State, District, Police station, Pin code, Mobile no, (Telephone and email id are not mandatory). If your permanent address is as same to your present address? You can answer it as yes or no.

the next page  is to fill your Emergency Contact

you have to fill the details of the person to whom you want to call in case of an emergency like an accident. This page contains-

  1. Name and Address
  2. Mobile no.
  3. Telephone no and E-mail id (not mandatory). Of the contact person.

After emergency contact, the references page opens in which you have to fill two references for verification. For two references you need to fill-

  1. Name and mobile no.
  2. Address

Then click on the “next”

 

After references page, the next page is to fill up the details of your previous passport. You can just click yes or no for the questions asked in the page.  

  1. have you ever held/hold any other passport? 

Or 2. have you ever applied for the passport, but not issued?

In the next page you have to fill in the details of the following questions.

  1. Is any criminal proceeding pending?
  2. Has the criminal convicted by the court?
  3. If the applicant is denied to passport?
  4. If the applicant’s passport is impounded/revoked?
  5. If the applicant is applied or been granted the political asylum?
  6. If the applicant is returned to India on an emergency certificate?

 

After entering the details, the next step is to verify the details. If you want to make any change you can change it.

After the verification fill the place name and date. Then select the little box “I Agree”. You can also add your mobile no. to receive SMS Services at the charges of 30 rupees which will be payable at Passport Seva Kendra at the time of application processing appointment. Then click on the button “Submit” and  submit the form.

 

After self-declaration, your application will be submitted successfully. After that choose the option “ Pay and Schedule” after the form submission. You can pay either through online or challan Payment.

Then choose from the  list of appointment centres with available dates.

Choose your Passport Seva Kendra location and then click to “next”. “Pay and book appointment” option will appear. 

First, check the details and then click on the option. You can make online payments. After the successful payment, your form process is completed.

Make sure that you have given all the correct details and the documents are not incomplete when you reach the venue on the given date. Be on time at the time of appointment.
